As I previously mentioned in my interface with the wider world section, I have recently been employed as a digital ambassador for the university whilst also being an events ambassador. Due to this, I had the opportunity to create an Instagram reel/Tik Tok surrounding what it could be like working as an events ambassador.
Therefore, I recorded small videos throughout my day during experience day on the 23rd of April to create the video. It was the most exciting shift that I have had since being an events ambassador because I was getting footage for the video of all different aspects of the job role, from signposting to accommodation and campus tours. Even though it was exciting working all aspects of the job, not just one like I usually do on shift, it was tiring as it involved walking around the entire campus, not to mention getting the train at 7am to get there on time for my shift.
It was such an exciting experience and gave me more skills in marketing from a social media aspect. It allowed me to understand and consider what is best for the video to make it more interesting for the audience. However, my favourite part of making this video was the post-production. It allowed me to be more creative and include some animation throughout the video, showcasing my skills better. I was a bit wary of recording a voiceover as it was jarring to hear my voice as I’m not used to this type of thing. But it was fun regardless and allowed me to work on my confidence not just as a designer but also as a person.
I plan on creating more content for the university until I am no longer classed as a student to have more experience in marketing and learn more skills that I can adapt when marketing myself as a designer. I would like to focus on the creative aspects of making video content, as it is a lot more exciting than a blog post and can help me develop my skills more in social media promotion.
The final video is available in the Interface with the Wider World Section.
